RECONFIGURED LAWYERS' CORNER

June 28, 2016

LOCATION : Chennai

SIZE : 3,015 sft.

PROJECT TYPE : Office | Interiors

COLLABORATORS : Barath Kumar

Clean lines, repurposed elements, and a utility oriented approach defines the design for this successful, well-established Law firm in Chennai. Our primary challenges were to convert 2 existing apartments into one large office space, and re-use existing elements to fit within the client’s vast storage requirements. The spaces had to be programmed taking into account, the large number of existing and old case files, books of varying sizes, specific seating configurations for certain employees, etc. and also provide for future expansion. The result is a spacious, functional, fuss-free, productive work environment.

THE THIRD FLOOR HIDEAWAY

June 16, 2016

LOCATION : Chennai

SIZE : 1150 sft.

PROJECT TYPE : Apartment | Interiors

COLLABORATORS : LiteLab | Energysis

The design of this Master Suite with a walk-in wardrobe for a young couple with a son, speaks of comfort and luxury, in a quiet and subtle manner. The Suite has been treated minimally, keeping in mind the warmth that is required within such a space. Study units and storage spaces are seamlessly connected and tucked away into the corners, making the space clutter-free and child-friendly.

SPICE CHEST

June 14, 2016

LOCATION : Chennai

SIZE : 560 sft.

PROJECT TYPE : Office | Interiors | Renovation

Wood, white, grey and rust red liven up this design for renovating an existing pantry. We have proposed a central island that acts as the pivotal element, around which the other elements are organized. The corner storage unit is a flexible design, where boxes can be added or removed as per the client's requirement. The space becomes a self-service zone, with areas demarcated for storage and utilitarian features.

A PLACE IN THE SKY

November 3, 2015

LOCATION : Chennai

SIZE : 5,125 sft.

PROJECT TYPE : Landscape | Outdoor Spaces

COLLABORATORS : Barath Kumar

A prominent complex in Boat Club approached Drawing Hands with a commission to convert their terrace into a place of communion. They require a space to entertain their equally well-placed acquaintances and friends. It must be a place to generate conversation, meet new people, unwind at the end of a hectic day; a place to see and be seen. The terrace is framed by lush green trees on all 4 sides, AC units are scattered all over the place akin to diversions on the road. The terrace is a space that functions as a dumping ground for all unwanted accessories in the building, a space to hide away the ungainly generators, air conditioning units; a space where wires are strewn aplenty, clothes are hung to dry. We are reprogramming such a space, which has only the sky above for cover, into an oasis exclusive to the residents of the complex. A space that exudes happiness and calm, and as one that lights up into a grand party arena.
