Jigsaw Kit is a set of individual furniture pieces that can be put together in multiple configurations, according to the needs of the user.

The inspiration for this set of furniture comes from a very real home need. i.e : a lack of space, the want for an elegant yet lightweight coffee table, an extra seat for visitors in the drawing room, that can be stowed away when not in use. We conceived a single design that would serve all of the above purposes. Hence the 5 configurations of the 3 pieces [an ottoman, a coffee table, a bookcase/storage unit, a worktop and an individual seat ]. The elements are designed to be plugged together like a jigsaw. More can be derived - we leave it to the users' imagination.

Though this was perceived for the home, it works well in a Work environment too. Our first piece has found a temporary home at @Works, Alwarpet, Chennai, a brilliant co-working facility in the city. This piece has been conceived from a sketch to reality, working out of the @Works premises. Together with the bean bags, this piece completes the informal alcove of this space.

The Layered Lamp

A Layered Lamp by Drawing Hands Studio is a small scale derivative of a core idea : Nested Roots. Through this design, we aim to spread the awareness of a specific environmental issue, Mangrove depletion in coastal areas. Given the reality of climate change and the increasing uncertainty in the occurrence of floods in our cities & towns, our design addresses the vital role played by mangroves in keeping these waves of fury at bay.

The lamp is 3-D printed and wrapped around with rattan. A bulb holder fixed at the centre provides the user flexibility to change the bulbs according to their convenience. Highest wattage permissible for the 3D printed material is 12W.

The Lamp exudes a warm glow into any room it is placed in, creating intricate shadow play. This product is a daily reminder of the impact of mangroves in our environmental fabric.
